To deliver physician-led and Artificial Intelligence-powered medical advice, Counsel Health has received $11 million from Andreessen Horowitz (a16z). Other investors were Floodgate Fund, Pear VC, and Asymmetric Capital Partners. This funding will help the company in its expansion plan and will help it to increase coverage to a million more people.
Counsel Health is a message-based platform that provides answers to simple as well as complex medical questions, also helps in getting a second opinion, along with urgent care and assistance with life-threatening decisions. With a huge backlog and crisis in primary care in America, with around 38 days of waiting for appointments, the virtual healthcare platform like Counsel Health plays an important role and is able to make disruptions in the healthcare and medical sector.
The company was founded by Muthu Alagappan, who is the Founder & CEO of Counsel Health and is a Physician himself. He is a former CMO at Notable Health, was an AI researcher in the past, and has practiced internal medicine as well.
