State Mental Health Institute, Kohima
State Mental Health Institute in Kohima, or SMHIK, is the only government mental health institution in Nagaland and is a 25-bedded premier mental facility. The hospital provides services like outpatient and Inpatient departments and emergency services, and it also has nursing students as well as interns in the psychology department.
Tele Mental health and neuroscience, i.e., Tele MANAS, was introduced at the hospital in the year 2023, which is helping people in remote areas to have access to mental health professionals, thus bridging the gap between the hospital and those in need.
